Question 461 of 1002

What does this sign mean?

Justification

The sign is a give-way sign called give way for oncoming traffic, and indicates that you are prohibited from driving onto a narrow stretch of road if this will hinder oncoming traffic. This sign is normally posted on narrow roads where there is not enough room for two cars to pass each other.

Oncoming traffic, i.e. traffic travelling in the opposite direction, will see the sign below, indicating that they have the right of way on the narrow section.

Options
Oncoming vehicles have to give way to me
The road has a steep hill
I have to give way to oncoming vehicles
I am driving against the traffic direction
