When queuing on a road with two lanes in the same direction of travel, you should follow traffic ahead and stay in one lane. The distance from the car in front of you should be large enough that there is no danger of running into the car if they slow down or stop. There is a special provision in the traffic rules stating that overtaking is only permitted if it is clear that you will be able to pull back into the flow of traffic without obstructing other road users. Frequent lane changes to get ahead in the queue is therefore prohibited. |
