Question 778 of 1002

Braking distance on dry asphalt is 15 meters. How long is the braking distance in winter conditions with only half the traction?

Justification

30 meters (twice the distance).

In winter conditions, grip can be reduced significantly compared to dry summer conditions, often as much as a quarter, and braking distance will therefore quadruple. In this question, conditions are fairly good since grip is only half of that it would be in dry summer weather.

When grip is halved, the braking distance will double.

Options
60 meters (4 times the distance)
22.5 meters (1.5 times the distance)
30 meters (twice the distance)
45 meters (3 times the distance)
