Braking distance is a function of speed and friction. Equipping your car with the correct tyres is important, but all-season tyres are normally not the ones that provide the best braking effect (winter tyres are better in winter, and summer tyres are better in summer). Cadence braking (also known as 'pumping the brakes', and which does not apply to cars with ABS brakes) does not in itself reduce the braking distance. However, it does mean that you will still be able to steer the car while braking. |
