Question 238 of 1002

How should you position your car if you are turning left here?

Justification

The following is stated in the traffic rules regarding turning on a road with one lane in each direction of travel:

When turning right, the driver shall keep the vehicle as close to the right-hand edge of the carriageway as possible.

When turning left, the driver shall drive as close to the middle of the carriageway as possible (i.e. on the left-hand side of your own lane).

These rules only apply when turning on a road with only one lane in each direction of travel. If there are two or more lanes in the same direction, other rules apply.

Options
To the right side of the lane
The road is clear enough that I can freely choose my position
In the middle of the lane
To the left side of the lane
