Question 471 of 1002

Outside of densely populated areas, warning signs are normally placed ...

Justification

The distance between a hazard and the corresponding hazard sign depends on the speed limit of the road. This is to ensure drivers are given the necessary time to adjust speed and behaviour before reaching the hazard.

If the speed limit is 60 km/h or lower, the warning sign should be placed 50-150 metres ahead of the hazard.

Outside of densely populated areas the speed limit is normally 70 or 80 km/h, and the warning sign should then be placed 150-250 metres ahead of the hazard.

On motorways, warning signs should be posted about 400 metres ahead of the hazard, and then repeated after 200 metres.

Options
250-350 metres ahead of the hazard
150-250 metres ahead of the hazard
50-100 metres ahead of the hazard
25-50 metres ahead of the hazard
