Question 496 of 1002

What is correct when braking on slippery roads?

Justification

Unlike 'traditional' brakes, ABS brakes prevent the wheels from getting locked up even if you brake hard.

This means that you will still be able to steer while braking. ABS allows the vehicle to be steered during braking. It cannot be steered as well as when the wheels are not being braked, but it can be steered enough to alleviate an evasive maneuver during emergency braking.

Options
If your car has antilock brakes, you can steer the car at the same time as you are braking
Antilock brakes do not affect the brakes, they only affect the steering
If your car does not have antilock brakes, you can steer and brake at the same time
If your car has antilock brakes, you must let go of the brakes to be able to steer the car
