Question 567 of 1002

What should you do if you get stuck in a queue inside a tunnel?

Justification

When a queue forms in a tunnel, make sure to keep your distance to the vehicle in front. If the car behind you is having difficulties stopping in time, you will then still be able to move forward to avoid being hit from behind.

To avoid being hit from behind, you might also wish to turn on your hazard warning lights to warn other road users.

Options
I would drive as close as possible to the car in front to make the queue as short as possible
I would put on the hazard warning lights and keep a good distance to the car in front when I stop
I would walk ahead in the tunnel to investigate if there has been an accident
I would try and turn or reverse out to avoid the queue
