Question 242 of 1002

What should you do when others want to overtake you?

Justification

The traffic rules require that the driver being overtaken must facilitate a safe overtaking:

'When a driver intends to overtake on the left, the driver in front shall stay as far to the right as possible and not increase their speed. If the vehicle being overtaken is moving slowly or occupies a great deal of space and the road does not offer an unobstructed view or there is oncoming traffic, its driver shall if necessary pull in to the right and slow down or stop.'

Options
Maintain my speed to create the best possible flow for traffic
Adjust my speed and signal to the right to show that it is clear ahead
Position my vehicle well to the left and maintain the same speed
Help by adjusting my speed and position so that the other vehicle may safely overtake me
