Correct use of the mirrors is of utmost importance when driving:

Check your mirrors frequently, but only brief glances (no more than 1 second).

Check your mirrors before reducing your speed (among other things to avoid anyone running into you from behind).

Check your mirrors when changing lanes or any other change in position occurs (for example when you make a turn at a crossroad). Remember to also check your blind spots.
