Question 109 of 1002

You are driving on the road shown on the picture. How should you drive?

Justification

The following is stated concerning speed in the traffic rules:

"A driver must be able to stop within the distance which he can see to be clear and before reaching any foreseeable obstruction."

As the hilltop restricts visibility and you don't know what is on the other side, you will need to adjust your speed so that you are able to stop before the hilltop if necessary.

Options
The road markings indicate that the road is wide and I can maintain my current speed
I should position myself in towards the centre so that I do not get too far out on the edge in case there is an oncoming car
I should drive so that I can stop within one quarter of the visible stretch
I should adjust my speed so that I can stop before the hilltop if necessary.
