When cars meet in the dark, both should switch to dipped headlights when the distance between them is about 200-300 metres. As full-beam headlights are directed straight ahead and with a smaller angle of light distribution than dipped headlights, you can switch back to full-beam headlights when the oncoming car is approximately 1-2 car lengths away.
If this occurs in a left-hand curve (from your perspective), you may keep your full-beam headlights on longer than the oncoming vehicle. |
