Question 500 of 1002

How far away should you place the warning triangle on a dark country road?

Justification

150–250 meters.

It is stated in the regulations concerning the use of vehicles that all cars must be equipped with a warning triangle.

The triangle should be placed so that it is clearly visible to other road users, and gives them enough time to react accordingly. The NPRA ('Statens vegvesen') recommends that the triangle is placed at least 150 meters from the car. A car going at 80 km/h moves about 110 meters in 5 seconds. While driving at higher speed limits, it is therefore advisable to place the warning triangle further ahead of the accident site to give other drivers sufficient warning.

Options
50–100 meters
25–50 meters
500–700 meters
150–250 meters
