Flashing red lights indicate that you should stop at the stop line, or at a safe distance from the signal.

The clear signal at level crossings is given by flashing white lights (white flashing lights indicate that you may pass, but you must always have a sufficient overview of the traffic situation and check that it is safe to cross before driving across).

It is prohibited to stop (and park) closer than 5 metres from a level crossing.
