Changing lanes is permitted.

The road markings in the illustration is called a lane line, and is a broken line consisting of short lines with large gaps in between.

Lane lines may be crossed if the traffic rules allow it, as the lane line tells you that you will normally be able to get a clear view of the road ahead in this area. Lane lines may be yellow or white.
