Question 5 of 45

What do you achieve by looking far ahead on the road?

Justification

A lack of observation is a contributing factor in many traffic incidents. We therefore have a set of 'observation rules' that all drivers should abide by. One of these rules is to look far ahead.

In densely populated areas, you should try to see as far ahead as the end of the street.

On country roads, you should try to see at least 400 metres ahead.

In the dark, you should try to see further ahead than just the stretch illuminated by your own headlights.

Options
Your reaction time is shorter
You notice hazards earlier
You get an unsteady course
You do not need to use the mirrors as much
